first_imgThe Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) has disclosed that the recent technical breakdown at its White Plains water treatment plant in Careysburg was not due to sabotage in any form, shape and manner.Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services Frankie Cassell told the Daily Observer Monday that the problem that generated at the LWSC’s water treatment plant three days ago was purely technical in nature.Shedding light on the recent water shortage that hit Monrovia, Mr. Cassell and Public Relations Manager Wilmot Dweh disclosed that swift pipe-borne water had  been restored to greater Monrovia.The two LWSC officials also intimated that during the three-day water shortage that hit Monrovia and its environs,  there were alternative mechanisms that helped pump pipe-borne water to its many customers.Consequently, very often the LWSC management has  sounded a passionate plea  that the water agency is facing some serious challenges and other constraints that need  swift intervention.In a radio announcement issued on August 5, 2014, the LWSC said the system was experiencing technical problems that continue to affect the regular pumping schedule through its 16 inch and 36 inch lines.As a result, water supply was being rationed on alternate days in greater Monrovia and its immediate environs.The statement also explained that residents and customers along the 16 inch line,  specifically in Louisiana, Caldwell, Tweh Farm, Duala, Club Beer Factory, Freeport, New Kru Town and West Point,  would receive LWSC’s services on day one of the rationing exercise.The statement further added  that residents and customers along the 36” line on Pipeline Road, Paynesville and Congo Town would receive water services on Wednesday on day two (2) of the rationing exercise.The LWSC management wishes to reassure the general public and valued customers that its water is safe to drink and would continue to protect the source and distribution of water to the public.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
