Hands-On: ‘Stranded Sails’ Is a Relaxing Farm Sim AdventureHere’s an Hour of Incomprehensible ‘Death Stranding’ Gameplay Stay on target Sega released a new video today that spotlights some of the bonus stages and time attack modes in Sonic Mania. Like everything else in the game, these extra levels are a throwback to classic bonus stages. They’re quite brilliant, actually. The special stages are reminiscent of the ones from Sonic CD. Here, players must catch a UFO. As they collect blue orbs, they’ll gain more speed. Catching the UFO will reward players with a shiny Chaos Emerald. The bonus stages are straight out of Sonic 3. Like that game, players must collect blue orbs while traversing a spherical world. Unlike the special stages which are updated versions of what was in Sonic CD, these bonus levels look straight out of Sonic 3. That’s not a bad thing, however.Time attack is pretty self-explanatory. Players must complete levels as quickly as possible. What’s great about this mode is that you can compete with others to get on the online global leaderboard. This video is just another example of why Sonic Mania is going to be so great. I’ve been a fan of Sonic since the Sega Genesis days so seeing this game in action truly makes me happy. It’s clear that Sega has put a lot of love and care into this title. Many folks have wanted the series to return to its 2D roots, so Sonic Mania will no doubt be embraced by fans worldwide. I also hope it shows people who may only know the (awful) 3D Sonic games what this series is really supposed to be like.Sonic Mania will be released on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on August 15. You can pre-order it now from Amazon.Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.
